pogo616 is a specialised online social networks and it is the first of its kind in providing a platform for food lovers and friends that supports major European and Asian languages on the same site.

As a social networking site we are concerned with user-to-user, user-to-site and user-to-business interactions. We make sure that users or businesses entering our site maintain control over their contents, using tools that we provide to manage their online assets to form their own communities and networks. User-to-user interactions can be onsite interactions between users and visitors on our website, or interactions across different website where users access contents on other networking sites from pogo616.

Multi-lingual

There are three major multilingual elements incorporated within the site, namely, multilingual search, multilingual contents and multilingual user interface.

Instant change of language without refreshing

• • Multilingual search: users can execute searches using multiple languages.

• Multilingual contents: As a website serving an international community, the contents provided by the site and uploaded by users will be written in different languages. Our website provides filters for users to select contents in their desired languages, and buttons for changing content language instantly

Content language can be different to UI language

• Multilingual user interface: users can choose from up to eight different languages for the user interface (UI). Most websites require a page reload when users choose a different language for the UI. On pogo616, this happens asynchronously without the need for a page reload, thus preserving page contents and any selections that users have already made.

Search Engine

Our powerful search engine and search methods can execute object-based searches using tags to find multimedia contents and abstract objects such as a restaurant or business.

Phonetic search for restuarants

• Chinese language phonetic search: users can perform searches to find correct results even if they enter incorrect characters as long as the characters have similar pronunciations.

Innovative tag search

• Innovative tag search: throughout the website we encourage users to search by tags. This reduces effort from the users as all they need to do is point and click to initiate a search. It is also very effective in multimedia and object-based searches, and scalable in terms of user interface (UI) and database development.

Tools and functions

• Manage contents: Users can manage their own profile page that contains reviews, photos, blogs, friends and favourite restaurant lists, and organise their contents using tools we provide.

• Add friends: users can make friends with other users within the site or bring friends over from other social networks such as facebook.

• Create favourite restaurant lists: users can save lists of their favourite restaurants to share with friends and friends of their friends. This function enables users to search among their friends for restaurant recommendations.
